Kazbar

Kazbar is part of the “holy trinity” of gay bars populating Clapham (together with the 2Brewers and the Bridge) – an area which, to my surprise, many Londoners have never been. Clapham is hip, it’s new, and absolutely buzzing with life (and police/fire trucks). With summer still here for an unknown period of time, it’s time to put on some skimpy clothing and head to the Common and the bars of the area.

I think Kazbar really encompasses the feel and vibe of Clapham – with tables outside, teeming with life (it tends to attract quite a crowd) and gay people. The music, at least when we were there, seemed to be themed on “Oldies but Goldies”, and the rainbow tiled “dance floor” at the back seemed to fit in perfectly with that.

Drinks wise, don’t expect much complexity. Like with any gay bar around London (with the exception of the Shadow Lounge), Kazbar didn’t seem concerned with getting well trained bartenders. The double gin and tonic I got myself had a bit more gin spilled in – and my Romanian genes make it very difficult for me to complain for what was basically free alcohol. But the drink was quite strong.
