There are many things that Mexico means to me – the best ice-cream I ever ate, the longest flight (19h) I ever took, accidentally smuggling weapons inside the country. Having been so inspirational to my own life, I cannot be surprised that it has inspired chains and restaurants around the world as well.
Location: Tortilla, Canary Wharf, London
Cuisine: Mexican
Camera: iPhone 6
There was little that reminded me of Mexico at Tortilla, as the Mexican version of Subway attempted to have good service despite lots of people being randomly served before me. They had run out of nachos, which was rather disappointing but I guess the atmosphere had to match the food, otherwise it wouldn’t be thematic. I do applaud the chains attempt to seem more Mexican by putting beans inside my food, but other than that, and the somewhat spiciness, nothing really tickled my pickle. Then my burrito just spilled everywhere.
I sat there, drinking my bitter Cerveza, realizing that I do not actually like beer and that I am in a mall. Which is in a DLR station. The world seemed sad and lonely for a second, and without good food.
